Transborder Shipments of Waste

The shipments of waste have been governed for many years by the Waste Management Act.
New legislation came into power on July 12th, 2007 which covers the transborder shipments of all waste materials.
Regulation (EEC) No. 259/93 on the supervision, and control of shipments of waste within, into and out of the European Community has been replaced by Regulation (EC) No. 1013/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council dated June 14th, 2006 governing the shipment s of waste.
The aim of the amendment is, amongst other things, to achieve a global harmony with regard to the regulations covering transborder shipments of waste, and also a simplification of the manifold legislation by imposing a clear structure.
The most important changes are: Reduction of the lists of wastes from three down to two-> Attachment IV (A list)
"Amber-listed" Attachment IV (A list),
"Green-listed" Attachment III (B list)
