Spent Catalysts: Petrochemical Industry
Heraeus is a world leader in the refining of spent catalysts.
In the petrochemical industry precious metal containing catalysts are used in various processes. These spent catalysts contain precious metals such as platinum, palladium, rhodium and ruthenium, and at Heraeus we are able to recycle them.
Catalysts are used in such processes as reforming, isomerisation and hydrogenation.
Apart from the platinum group metals these catalysts may also contain rhenium. Heraeus has developed a special recycling process to deal with this.
For ethylene-oxide production catalysts containing silver are employed. Here too, Heraeus is a leading global service-partner for silver refining.
